Kevin Hussey, also known as Caoimhghín Ó hEodhasa, is an actor based in the West of Ireland. His works to date have primarily been in the Irish language, including titular character Braon Poitín in TG4’s first mockumentary AN POITÍN, the traumatised messenger Éamon Cois-Éadrom (Lightfoot) in the one-actor play AR AN DÉ DEIRIDH, and his own short film NORMÁILTE, mapping the last 50 years of the Irish LGBTQ+ movement against the experience of growing up queer.
Kevin performed in WÁLTSÁILABHAILE/WALTZING HOME, the surrealist biographical play about Micheál Mac Liammóir, openly gay theatre-maker, dramatist and Irish-language writer active in the first half of the 20th Century. He is particularly proud of this show, not only due to its subject matter – looking at the last 200 years of gay history in Ireland – but also because it was performed for President Michael D.Higgins.
Known for his versatility, Kevin has also performed in street theatre (GAELTACHT NA TODHCHAÍ), web-series (INFLUENCER FAOIN TUATH), a soap opera (ROS NA RÚN), classic plays (ANTIGONE, ANIMAL FARM), and alongside performers with intellectual disabilites (GULLIVER’S TRAVELS, 2016). He also creates educational and entertainment short-form video content on the Irish language on his TikTok and Instagram pages, both under the handle @kevin_ar_tuathal.
